Environmental protection and conservation challenges of local biodiversity will be highlighted in the upcoming 19th Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabian Biodiversity.
With the participation of 200 experts, researchers, specialists and academics from around the world, the four-day forum will be launched on February 5 during which participants will share experience, ideas and expertise in order to enhance knowledge about local biodiversity and conservation challenges.
Organised by Sharjah's Environmental Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), the forum will focus on three main themes, including the Red List of plants in the Arabian Peninsula. The theme of protected areas will introduce the Global Standards of International Union for Conservation of Nature for the Identification of Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) and the veterinary theme will discuss in-house diagnostics.

"The first theme will be similar to the workshops on Red Lists carried out for reptiles in 2012, for birds in 2013, for mammals in 2016 and for trees in 2017," said Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson. "It will provide up-to-date information on the main threats and recommendations for ways to preserve the plants."
She said that the veterinary theme is a continuation of the two previous topics.
"This year, a greater emphasis will be placed on physical fluid collections and assessment while studies will be used to highlight their use in veterinary groups," she said. "There will be a closer look at the use of drones in the conservation of biodiversity, including cartography, wildlife surveys, monitoring, law enforcement and medicine in the conservation of biodiversity."

December 2: 11am, Dubai. New Supreme Council formally elects Sheikh Zayed as President. Treaty of Friendship signed with the UK. 11.30am. Flag raising ceremony at Union House and Al Manhal Palace in Abu Dhabi witnessed by Sheikh Khalifa, then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
December 6: Arab League formally admits the UAE. The first British Ambassador presents his credentials to Sheikh Zayed.
December 9: UAE joins the United Nations.

Dates for the diary
To mark Bodytree’s 10th anniversary, the coming season will be filled with celebratory activities:
- September 21 Anyone interested in becoming a certified yoga instructor can sign up for a 250-hour course in Yoga Teacher Training with Jacquelene Sadek. It begins on September 21 and will take place over the course of six weekends.
- October 18 to 21 International yoga instructor, Yogi Nora, will be visiting Bodytree and offering classes.
- October 26 to November 4 International pilates instructor Courtney Miller will be on hand at the studio, offering classes.
- November 9 Bodytree is hosting a party to celebrate turning 10, and everyone is invited. Expect a day full of free classes on the grounds of the studio.
- December 11 Yogeswari, an advanced certified Jivamukti teacher, will be visiting the studio.

Why your domicile status is important
Your UK residence status is assessed using the statutory residence test. While your residence status – ie where you live - is assessed every year, your domicile status is assessed over your lifetime.
Your domicile of origin generally comes from your parents and if your parents were not married, then it is decided by your father. Your domicile is generally the country your father considered his permanent home when you were born.
UK residents who have their permanent home ("domicile") outside the UK may not have to pay UK tax on foreign income. For example, they do not pay tax on foreign income or gains if they are less than £2,000 in the tax year and do not transfer that gain to a UK bank account.
A UK-domiciled person, however, is liable for UK tax on their worldwide income and gains when they are resident in the UK.
