Rain will sweep across the country on Saturday bringing with it a drop in temperatures.
According to forecasters, overcast skies are expected to develop into rain by the early afternoon.
An animated projection from forecasters Windy.com shows a band of rain from the outskirts of Madinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi emirate to the tip of Ras Al Khaimah that will pass through the country to Oman.
The rain will be coupled with winds averaging speeds between 20 to 35kph but could travel as fast at 50kph.
Water will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate, turning choppy in the Sea of Oman.
Temperatures will vary between 13°C to 24°C along the coasts and between 10°C to 25°C inland. In the mountainous areas of the country, temperatures will drop as low as 9°C and peak at 20°C.
Cool conditions are expected to continue over the next few days, making it a chilly Christmas in the Emirates.

Some rain is expected on Sunday evening in Abu Dhabi but it should otherwise be a dry week, according to forecasters.
High humidity overnight and cooler temperatures will cause fog to form in small pockets around the country.
On Saturday, fog was reported in Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra and the area between Dubai and Fujairah.
Fog is not expected near any of the country's airports, which will come as welcome news to Christmas travellers - particularly after flights were grounded last year.

What the law says
Micro-retirement is not a recognised concept or employment status under Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Labour Relations (as amended) (UAE Labour Law). As such, it reflects a voluntary work-life balance practice, rather than a recognised legal employment category, according to Dilini Loku, senior associate for law firm Gateley Middle East.
“Some companies may offer formal sabbatical policies or career break programmes; however, beyond such arrangements, there is no automatic right or statutory entitlement to extended breaks,” she explains.
“Any leave taken beyond statutory entitlements, such as annual leave, is typically regarded as unpaid leave in accordance with Article 33 of the UAE Labour Law. While employees may legally take unpaid leave, such requests are subject to the employer’s discretion and require approval.”
If an employee resigns to pursue micro-retirement, the employment contract is terminated, and the employer is under no legal obligation to rehire the employee in the future unless specific contractual agreements are in place (such as return-to-work arrangements), which are generally uncommon, Ms Loku adds.

- Jebel Akhdar is a two-hour drive from Muscat airport or a six-hour drive from Dubai. It’s impossible to visit by car unless you have a 4x4. Phone ahead to the hotel to arrange a transfer.
