The UAE is asking cyclists about their needs and preferences in a survey that begins days after UAE Team Emirates won the Tour de France.
Respondents are asked about where they live, what type of bike they ride and how safe they feel when they are out on the roads and cycling tracks, among other questions.
The online survey is being conducted by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority in collaboration with the Executive Council of Dubai and local statistical centres.

In August, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said Dubai is set to become a bicycle-friendly city after the latest road safety laws and infrastructure to support riders are put in place.
The Crown Prince of Dubai urged authorities to adopt global best practices to develop a bicycle-friendly infrastructure in the emirate.
The announcement was in line with the objectives of Dubai Vision 2021, which aims to strengthen the city’s position as the world’s most preferred place to live, work and visit.
It also supports the objectives of the Dubai Traffic Strategy 2021 that seeks to reduce road fatalities, and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 – which aims to achieve a 16 per cent cut in carbon emissions by next year.
On August 9, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, was seen cycling around the city with friends and aides before stopping to pray by the roadside.
The images, shared widely on social media, showed Sheikh Mohammed and a group of almost 20 friends and family cycle past the Dubai Canal, using a dedicated cycling path and wearing helmets.

How to get exposure to gold
Although you can buy gold easily on the Dubai markets, the problem with buying physical bars, coins or jewellery is that you then have storage, security and insurance issues.

WHAT IS GRAPHENE?
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were experimenting with sticky tape and graphite, the material used as lead in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But when they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.

The first Soroptimists club was founded in Oakland, California in 1921. The name comes from the Latin word soror which means sister, combined with optima, meaning the best.
