More than 45,000 houbaras were hatched last year, Saleh Al Baidani, the director general of the International Fund for Houbara Conservation, has said.
Mr Al Baidani said that 25,588 Asian houbaras and 20,426 North African houbaras were hatched at research centres affiliated with the fund.
In an interview with Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National, Mt Al Baidani said the IFHC is intensifying research efforts and making use of new technology to breed and track birds in the wild.
