Two Asian men have been fined Dh105,000 for dumping barrels containing an unknown chemical substance in the Al Harai area of Khor Fakkan City on the east coast last week.
Salem bin Mohammed Al Naqbi, head of the municipalities and agriculture affairs at Sharjah Government, said two vehicles that were used to transport the barrels were also impounded for two months.
Authorities expect a lab analysis report on the substances found in the barrels to be issued either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Fawziya Al Qadi, the director of Khor Fakkan Municipality, said if the analysis report shows that the chemical substance contained in the barrels was harmless, the case wouldn’t be referred to public prosecution.
