ABU DHABI // Hélène Pelosse arrived in the UAE yesterday on her first visit since her election as head of the Abu Dhabi-based International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena).
She was greeted by Thani al Zayoudi, project manager at Masdar City, where Irena will be housed, and Mohammed al Mansouri, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms Pelosse was due to meet senior Masdar officials, to be briefed about the preparations for Irena's arrival.
The agency's permanent offices will be ready in October 2011; until then, it will run from temporary offices in the capital.
Ms Pelosse was elected to the post of director general on June 30, just hours after Abu Dhabi won the contest to host Irena.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
