Heavy hailstorms hit parts of the Northern Emirates on Wednesday, causing flash floods in some areas.
The National Centre of Meteorology shared videos of hailstones falling in Kadra in Ras Al Khaimah.
Heavy rain with hail was also reported in Buraq in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ukhaidir in Sharjah and Sheikh Khalifa Road going towards Fujairah.
The weather bureau issued an alert asking people to stay away from flooded areas.
Residents also posted videos on social media showing the ground in Kadra covered with hailstones.
A video showed a group of camels running in the hailstorm.
SSheikh Khalifa Road was flooded and heavy rain was reported in Asfani, Al Ghayl and Shawkah roads in Ras Al Khaimah.
Hail usually occurs when strong currents of rising air, otherwise known as updrafts, carry droplets of water up high enough to freeze.
Updrafts can be caused by the sun heating the ground, which causes the surrounding air to rise, creating the perfect conditions for hail, even in the hot UAE desert.
Downpours are expected to continue over some eastern and northern parts of the country in the days to come, forecasters said earlier.
On Monday, five people were rescued after four cars were swept away in flash floods in Sharjah as heavy rain lashed the northern emirates.
Flash flooding is common in northern parts of the Emirates and police always advise residents not to drive near wadis during treacherous weather.

What drives subscription retailing?
Once the domain of newspaper home deliveries, subscription model retailing has combined with e-commerce to permeate myriad products and services.
The concept has grown tremendously around the world and is forecast to thrive further, according to UnivDatos Market Insights’ report on recent and predicted trends in the sector.
The global subscription e-commerce market was valued at $13.2 billion (Dh48.5bn) in 2018. It is forecast to touch $478.2bn in 2025, and include the entertainment, fitness, food, cosmetics, baby care and fashion sectors.
The report says subscription-based services currently constitute “a small trend within e-commerce”. The US hosts almost 70 per cent of recurring plan firms, including leaders Dollar Shave Club, Hello Fresh and Netflix. Walmart and Sephora are among longer established retailers entering the space.
UnivDatos cites younger and affluent urbanites as prime subscription targets, with women currently the largest share of end-users.
That’s expected to remain unchanged until 2025, when women will represent a $246.6bn market share, owing to increasing numbers of start-ups targeting women.
Personal care and beauty occupy the largest chunk of the worldwide subscription e-commerce market, with changing lifestyles, work schedules, customisation and convenience among the chief future drivers.

The smuggler
Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.
Khouli conviction
Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.
