Fujairah wants to cultivate the world's largest coral garden to encourage biodiversity, boost tourism and attract divers and nature enthusiasts.
The move was revealed on Thursday by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Fujairah Centre for Adventures who signed a memorandum of understanding to build it.
Details on when the garden would be finished were not immediately available, but the deal stipulated that the ministry will provide grown corals of various sizes and types. It will also provide technical support and logistics services to the onsite team.

“Such agreements are important to help preserve the pristine natural beauty of the region and its precious marine environment," he said.
"The project is the largest in the world and will help boost local and international interest in the coral reef and the marine environment."
The ceremony was also attended by Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
Fujairah Centre for Adventures, meanwhile, will determine the best geographical location for the garden. It will also ensure it is easily accessible, within a protected area, on rocky ground and at less than one nautical mile from the shore.
The center will also monitor the development of the coral garden and the area’s biodiversity every three months.
The move follows an announcement in March that coral gardens are to be built along the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.

Iftar programme at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding
Established in 1998, the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding was created with a vision to teach residents about the traditions and customs of the UAE. Its motto is ‘open doors, open minds’. All year-round, visitors can sign up for a traditional Emirati breakfast, lunch or dinner meal, as well as a range of walking tours, including ones to sites such as the Jumeirah Mosque or Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
Every year during Ramadan, an iftar programme is rolled out. This allows guests to break their fast with the centre’s presenters, visit a nearby mosque and observe their guides while they pray. These events last for about two hours and are open to the public, or can be booked for a private event.
Until the end of Ramadan, the iftar events take place from 7pm until 9pm, from Saturday to Thursday. Advanced booking is required.

Labour dispute
