Dubai Police to drive a new type of green car

The police have introduced a batch of electrical vehicles they say will help them to patrol narrow and crowded areas not easily reached by cars.

DUBAI // Police have introduced a batch of electrical vehicles they say will help them to patrol narrow and crowded areas not easily reached by cars.

The new vehicles do not produce carbon dioxide and are larger than a golf buggy but smaller than a police car.

They will also be used to carry employees and visitors at police headquarters.

Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the chief of Dubai Police, launched the first batch today.

"We at Dubai Police continuously seek a safe and clean, sustainable and attractive environment," Gen Tamim said.

He said that the vehicles would help to reduce emissions and noise, and would improve levels of "occupational health and safety".

The number of vehicles the police are introducing was not disclosed.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
