Al Ain was hit by heavy rain and high winds on Sunday evening.
Forecasters predicted rainfall for Al Ain and towns and villages near the mountains of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah during daylight hours.
The National Centre for Meteorology released video of vehicles on slippery roads, as pools of water formed under darkening skies.
An NCM spokesman told The National that residents should expect a wet start to the week in some parts of the Emirates.
“The low pressure moving in from the east will create the chance of more rain in the mountain areas and eastern parts,” the official said.
“Rain is expected in the north-east in places near Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, and also near Al Ain.
“In the past few days, we have seen a lot of rain in the east and south of the UAE.”
Visibility was expected to be less than 2,000 metres, with gusts of wind blowing sand across several regions of the country on Sunday.
Videos that showed rain-slicked roads and water filling wadis and valleys were shared by the NCM on its website and by residents on social media.
Conditions will improve over the next two days, as the low pressure moves towards Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Temperatures in the UAE will climb this week to 48°C or 49°C.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
