Emiratisation key topic at Middle East HR Summit

Emiratisation is the key topic at this year's Middle East HR Summit and Expo 2012, which began on Sunday.

The five-day event, being held in Dubai, will look at a variety of different issues, including how to tackle diversity at organisations and what benefits nationalisation can bring to a country.

The summit gives an opportunity for those working in the HR industry to come together and solve these problems, said Amna Al Suwaidi, an HR planning expert for the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

"Our aim at the FAHR is to improve and enhance the capabilities of HR in the Federal Government sector," she said. "The summit allows for all government entities to engage in discussions and exchange insights on how we can attract more local talent and overcome any challenges we may face."

During the event, audience members and speakers looked at the relationship between employers and Emiratis and discussed ways in which the relationship could be developed.

Also present at the launch was Dave Ulrich, a professor at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a partner at a consulting firm. Mr Ulrich spoke about the future of HR development in the UAE.

Today's event will see talks on the challenges of working in the field, as well as discussions on the changing model of HR delivery.

The final two days of the event will consist of HR masterclasses focusing on topics such as how to improve your business and how to build and sustain effective customer-centric leadership.
