The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested that all Emirati citizens currently in Pakistan and India should contact their nearest UAE embassy or consulate in order to register their whereabouts and contact information. Though apparently stopping short of issuing a security warning, the move was described as a preventative measure in the event of any security threat. Pakistan and India have seen a rising wave of terrorism and violence in recent months. In Pakistan, more than 50 people were killed when a car bomb was detonated at the gates of Islamabad's Marriott hotel in September. In India, more than 170 people were killed when a gang of heavily armed militants launched a wave of attacks in Mumbai, the country's financial capital, a month ago. * WAM
