The International Police Association has chosen Maj Amina Al Bloushi of Abu Dhabi as one of the four most outstanding police officers in the world.
The association, based in the US, chose Maj Al Bloushi for her work as chairwoman of the Emirates Women Police Association (EWPA), and as regional director for women police in the Middle East region.
She is also director of human resources at police headquarters and has won many awards for her excellence in leadership.
Outstanding Police Officer of the Year is the most prestigious award granted by the IPA and is based on innovation, creativity and contribution to the improvement of the police environment.
The association was founded in 1893 to strengthen police services, improve management, technical and operational practices in police work and enhance international cooperation between police departments.
It has more than 20,000 members in 100 countries.
The EWPA was established in 2011 under a directive from Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and covers all women in the ministry.
The association promotes women’s roles in police work.
Maj Al Bloushi has already received the Outstanding Police Officer Award from the International Association for Women Police in Canada, and many awards on a national level.
