An Emirati woman is on trial at the Federal Supreme Court for allegedly handing classified information to Hizbollah agents in Lebanon.
R M A, 47, allegedly gave out information on domestic security to two Hizbollah agents, intending for the information to reach Iran’s intelligence service, according to court documents.
She denied all the charges against her. The defendant’s lawyer told the judge that R M A was unjustly accused because of incorrect information that the investigators provided.
“The documents from the investigation state all connections my client has with Hizbollah. They even list one of her brothers who supposedly died in 1998 fighting for Hizbollah,” he said, adding that she had no brother with the name listed.
The lawyer gave the court a list of documents to disprove the charges against R M A and said that she had never met any Hizbollah agents in the UAE.
The lawyer’s request for bail for R M A was denied. A verdict is scheduled for March 21.
