Eight pupils and a school bus supervisor were injured in a traffic accident involving five vehicles in the capital on Sunday. Abu Dhabi Police said the minor accident, which also involved a large lorry, took place along Al Raha Beach in the direction of Dubai. Brig Salim Al Dhaheri, director of the Traffic Department for External Roads at Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic Directorate, said the accident was caused by motorists not leaving sufficient space between vehicles. Police and emergency services immediately responded to the accident and the injured were transferred to hospital for treatment. Another school bus was organised for the remaining pupils to take them to school. Brig Al Dhaheri called on motorists to drive carefully, particularly around school buses and wished the injured pupils and supervisor a speedy recovery.
