Emirati students will be given an "unrivalled opportunity" to meet the country's leaders along with captains of industry at an event in Abu Dhabi this week.
Thousands of young people are expected to attend the Mohammed bin Zayed Majlis for Future Generations at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Monday and Tuesday.
The event is spread across five dedicated zones that explores the themes: taking pride in a nation, mastering 21st-century skills, and developing global mindsets.
Mohamed Khaleefa Al Nuaimi, director of Abu Dhabi's Education Affairs Office, said: "The Majlis is set to be an action-packed two days of knowledge sharing and constructive dialogue, encouraging students to be leaders in their own lives, designing a better future for themselves and that of the nation."
Last year, in a frank talk to an audience of 3,000 university students, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed told them to think beyond expectations of "comfortable" government jobs. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also said they should be prepared to compete with the rest of the world.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also told students that they had achieve even more than his generation has.
"You are better than us and you have to be better than us – there is no option, you have to be better than your fathers and grandfathers," he said.
This year, most of the UAE's Cabinet will attend including Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Also scheduled to attend is Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, Dr Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills; Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Mariam Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for Food Security; Sarah bin Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, and Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.
Industry leaders will also be there including Mohammed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties and founder of the online delivery service Noon.com.
"The interest shown in this year’s event has been truly humbling. And I am glad we will be able to provide them with such a rich and valuable experience, said Mr Al Nuaimi.
"We also have more than 50 partners involved including Expo 2020, the Special Olympics, Mubadala, and Masdar, among others. All this, plus the exciting array of workshops, talks and sessions is bound to make the Majlis for Future Generations the must-see event of the year for Emirati students."

10 tips for entry-level job seekers
- Have an up-to-date, professional LinkedIn profile. If you don’t have a LinkedIn account, set one up today. Avoid poor-quality profile pictures with distracting backgrounds. Include a professional summary and begin to grow your network.
- Keep track of the job trends in your sector through the news. Apply for job alerts at your dream organisations and the types of jobs you want – LinkedIn uses AI to share similar relevant jobs based on your selections.
- Double check that you’ve highlighted relevant skills on your resume and LinkedIn profile.
- For most entry-level jobs, your resume will first be filtered by an applicant tracking system for keywords. Look closely at the description of the job you are applying for and mirror the language as much as possible (while being honest and accurate about your skills and experience).
- Keep your CV professional and in a simple format – make sure you tailor your cover letter and application to the company and role.
- Go online and look for details on job specifications for your target position. Make a list of skills required and set yourself some learning goals to tick off all the necessary skills one by one.
- Don’t be afraid to reach outside your immediate friends and family to other acquaintances and let them know you are looking for new opportunities.
- Make sure you’ve set your LinkedIn profile to signal that you are “open to opportunities”. Also be sure to use LinkedIn to search for people who are still actively hiring by searching for those that have the headline “I’m hiring” or “We’re hiring” in their profile.
- Prepare for online interviews using mock interview tools. Even before landing interviews, it can be useful to start practising.
- Be professional and patient. Always be professional with whoever you are interacting with throughout your search process, this will be remembered. You need to be patient, dedicated and not give up on your search. Candidates need to make sure they are following up appropriately for roles they have applied.
