Pupils in the UAE secured impressive scores in the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education examinations.
Thousands of children received their Grade 12 results from the CBSE, India’s largest school board, on Monday afternoon.
“Principals, parents, teachers and pupils of all Gems Education CBSE schools have waited anxiously for the Grade 12 results this year,” said Michael Gudzer, vice president of education at Gems.
“All concerned now have every reason to be relieved and justifiably proud, because the results have surpassed all expectations.
“This year has seen teachers and pupils overcome Covid-19 lockdowns, online classes and other barriers to emerge triumphant.”

There are 78 schools affiliated to the CBSE in the UAE, with an estimated 6,000 pupils in Grade 12.
In Our Own English High School in Dubai, 55 per cent of pupils scored 90 per cent or more, which is the equivalent of an A or A*.
“In these troubled times, the performance of our pupils has been the best in several years,” said the school’s executive principal, Thomas Mathew.
“The credit goes to the hard work of pupils, the dedication of our teachers and the constant support extended by our parent community.”
Pupils at Delhi Private School (DPS) Dubai also celebrated great results.
“What I have achieved today wouldn't have been possible without the constant guidance from my teachers who always believed in my potential and motivated me to do my best,” said Shriya Kunkumalla, who scored 98.2 per cent in humanities.
Rashmi Nandkeolyar, principal and director of DPS Dubai, praised his pupils and staff.
“We are delighted that our students have performed brilliantly, with a class average of 90.7 per cent,” she said.
“The entire class has been awarded a distinction (above 75 per cent).”
Pupils at United Indian School in Abu Dhabi were also happy with their results.
“It is the grit and courage coupled with hard work and determination to succeed on the part of pupils and teachers that made our school achieve such a commendable result at Grade 12,” said principal and chief executive K George Mathew.
Our Own English Boys High School in Sharjah had an average score of 84 per cent.
“Success is when the hard work and dedication of our teachers meet the brilliant achievement of our pupils,” said Srivalsan Murugan, principal and chief executive.
There was a 100 per cent pass rate at Indian High School (IHS) Dubai among 541 students. Ninty pupils at the school achieved a score of 95 per cent or higher.
“It’s a huge victory for all of us. Once again, pupils of IHS have proved their mettle,” said chief executive Punit MK Vasu.

Countdown to Zero exhibition will show how disease can be beaten
Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease, an international multimedia exhibition created by the American Museum of National History in collaboration with The Carter Center, will open in Abu Dhabi a month before Reaching the Last Mile.
Opening on October 15 and running until November 15, the free exhibition opens at The Galleria mall on Al Maryah Island, and has already been seen at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
