Ajman schools hire 23 Emiratis in first phase of appointments

AJMAN // Twenty-three Emirati teachers have been employed to take over classes at public schools in Ajman for the new academic year, which starts next month.

The new members of staff will fill vacancies left by teachers resigning or retiring.

“Three of the new teachers are female and all of them meet the requirements and standards of the Ministry of Education,” said Fatima Al Matrooshi, director of support services at the Ajman Education Zone.

“This is the first phase of appointments and more will be made in the near future, including citizen and expatriate teachers.”

Ms Al Matrooshi said 17 teachers resigned in the education zone last academic year.

The teachers will instruct in a range of subjects, including Arabic and English, Islamic studies, history, maths and art.

The education zone granted extensions of employment to 12 teachers who have reached the age of 60, after they proved they were in good health and still able to work well.

There are 41 public schools that follow the Ministry of Education curriculum in Ajman.
