Dubai private school teacher jailed for assaulting pupil

A teacher at a private school in Dubai has been sentenced to three months in prison for sexually assaulting a pupil.

Prosecutors revealed how the Syrian teacher, 55, arranged to meet the boy, 16, at his school in July last year to discuss his exams results.

Once in an empty classroom, the teacher was said to have hugged the boy and kissed him on the cheek.

Dubai Criminal Court also heard how the teacher then asked to kiss the pupil on the lips before the teenager screamed and pushed him away.

“We met in a school corridor and he told me I failed two subjects, Arabic and physics. Then he started explaining how I should study for tests,” the boy said.

“While inside a classroom, he kissed me on my cheek, touched me and made strange noises as he drew closer before asking to kiss me on the lips.”

The boy’s mother reported the incident to police and the man was arrested.

He denied sexually assaulting the teenager but was convicted at trial last week and will be deported after completing his sentence.
