Thousands of potentially hazardous counterfeit fire-prevention products with a value of Dh2.5 million have been kept off the streets thanks to Dubai Police. Officers seized more than 25,000 fake products during two raids carried out on warehouses in Ras Al Khor Industrial Area. The force worked in tandem with technology security company Underwriters Laboratories Middle East and international brand fraud investigators Ten Intelligence . Police said the poor-quality products posed a safety risk to the public, as well as being damaging to traders. "The department, acting on a tip-off, raided two storehouses at Ras Al Khor Industrial Area and seized knock-off fire-prevention products including many devices and accessories," said Brig Jamal Al Jallaf, Director General of Criminal Investigations at Dubai Police. "The lack of quality in counterfeits is harmful to consumers, threatening their safety because these fake products do not meet safety and security standards. It also causes damages to the country's economy and the original trademark owners.”
