Some 150 trainees have joined the para-Taekwondo self-defence course organised by the People of Determination Council at Dubai Police.
The course is part of the council's summer programme activities and in organised in collaboration with the Dubai Club for People of Determination.
Trainees of a variety of ages participated in the course along with the children of some of Dubai Police's employees.
Maj Dr Saud Al Rumaithi, head of the council, said the course organised under the directives of Maj Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, was designed to empower and emphasize the role of people with disabilities in life, culture, and sport.
"The course was organised as part of the Dubai 2020 strategy for People of Determination. It aims to change the mentality surrounding disability in the community and to prove that People of Determination have the same abilities and capabilities of others," said Maj Dr Al Rumaithi.
