DUBAI // Five teams of firefighters spent two hours tackling a large blaze at a warehouse on an industrial estate near Dubai International Airport on Wednesday.
The fire erupted at 2.20pm at a warehouse building at 7B Street in Umm Ramool.
A spokesman for Dubai Civil Defence said emergency crews comprising 15 firetrucks and about 55 firefighters spent two hours battling the fire. It was extinguished at 4.20pm.
Witnesses reported huge plumes of black smoke drifting from the blaze and at least four fire engines could be seen near the warehouse.
As the fire continued, police cordoned off the surrounding area and prevented people from getting close, although a crowd of onlookers had gathered nearby.
Civil Defence reported that no one was been injured in the fire and that Dubai Police are investigating the cause.
The warehouse was used to store paper and plastic.
