A gang of four men have been charged with breaking into an apartment and robbing the tenants at knifepoint.
Prosecutors said the accused, aged between 23 and 33 and from Pakistan, posed as police officers as they burst into the flat late at night.
Their victims described being bound by the wrists with plastic ties before having jewellery ripped from their necks.
The gang also made off with their mobile phones and cash.
“I heard a loud noise and found four men inside the apartment,” said one Bangladeshi victim.
“They started restraining us one by one and then one of them slapped me.
“They stole our cash, mobile phones and pulled off our necklaces at knifepoint. They also forced my flatmates to take off their rings. They took everything.”
The attack happened at around 11pm on September 11 last year, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
As the men fled a security guard in the building managed to pin one defendant down and call the police.
Officers then arrested the remainder of the gang two days later.
“When one of the defendants was searched we found some of the stolen items in a plastic bag hidden in his groin,” a police officer told the court.
All four defendants deny robbing the women and the hearing was adjourned until January 7.

The smuggler
Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.
Khouli conviction
Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.
