DUBAI // A construction worker was set alight during a fight with a colleague who is thought to have tossed a flammable substance at him.
The circumstances behind the incident, which took place at an Azizi Developments site at Masakin Al Furjan, behind Ibn Battuta Mall and Discovery Gardens on Monday morning, are not yet clear.
However, workers near the construction site said the two men were arguing and one man threw a flammable substance towards his colleague, who sustained minor injuries. A large fire was then spotted by residents, though it is unclear how the blaze started.
A Civil Defence spokesman said the fire started at 8.30am but was under control by 9.07am.
The spokesman added that the injured worker is being treated in hospital after fire units from Al Barsha and Al Quoz had rushed to scene.
There were no fatalities, he said.
