The son of DIFC governor Ahmed Humaid al Tayer was killed in a traffic accident at about 5am today, according to a Dubai Police source.
Mohammed Ahmed Humaid al Tayer, who was in his early 20s, was travelling alone on Dubai-Al Ain Road at high speed when the car he was driving collided with a truck while changing lanes, according to the source.
A spokesman for DIFC said messages of condolence would appear in Arabic-language newspapers tomorrow, but cautioned that the matter was a private family affair.
This is the second time the al Tayer family has mourned the loss of a young relative in a road accident. In 2008, Ahmed Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, 19, son of DEWA head Saeed Mohammed al Tayer, died in a road accident on Sheikh Zayed Road.
