AJMAN // More than Dh6 million will be used to feed underprivileged people and nearly Dh2m to help 3,500 low-income families during Ramadan.
Ajman Human Appeal International announced that its Dh16m Ramadan campaign this year will cover thousands of people and families in the UAE and abroad as part of its Seeds of Good initiative, which ties in with this year being the Year of Giving.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, chairman of the appeal’s board of trustees, said the campaign consisted of 24 projects.
Sheikh Mohammed said 22,000 people would receive Eid clothing at a cost of Dh1.5m.
Volunteers from Ajman Youth Club will take part by delivering meals, clothes and financial aid.
They will also help needy families who live in remote areas by delivering their Ramadan necessities.
“An additional initiative was launched by the employees of the appeal, who decided to give a day’s pay each to charity,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “Through that we collected Dh300,000 that will be dedicated to providing medical treatment to patients who cannot afford treatment.”
He spoke of some of the appeal’s success stories.
“Three women in Jordan were provided financial aid to start businesses to care for their families,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
“One of them started her home kitchen. She is an amazing cook.”
Another woman who lives in a remote area with limited access to modern necessities started a mobile shop at her home.
“She would travel to the nearest city and purchase smartphones then resell them in her town for a slightly higher price. Her business is doing very well now.”
Another woman started a small farm behind her house with only two sheep, and she now owns more than 20.
Sheikh Mohammed said that he would host a gathering during Ramadan inviting volunteers and intellectuals to come up with initiatives to spread good across the world.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
