The Danish Government has confirmed its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.
The Danish Business Council in the UAE will link up with the government for the six-month global gathering, using the event to display the country’s export and investment potential.
Denmark will also highlight the strength of its relationship with the UAE.
Reem Al Hashimy, Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau and Minister of State for International Co-operation, received confirmation of the country’s participation from Danish ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin.
Mr Mellbin will be commissioner general for Denmark at Expo 2020.
Almost 1,000 Danish small and medium-sized businesses are expected to participate in Expo 2020.
“As the world economy slowly begins to reopen, Danish companies are keen to participate and share their expertise, innovations and vision with the world for a cleaner, safer, healthier future,” Mr Mellbin said.
“With its global outlook, and sitting at the crossroads between Africa, Asia and Europa, the UAE provides a perfect meeting place for the event.”
Jens Lund, president of the Danish Business Council, said Expo 2020 Dubai would be “a crucial platform to boost the global economy”.
“We are putting the finishing touches to our pavilion and look forward to working closely with our country to share the best of what Denmark has to offer with people from all corners of the planet when Expo opens on October 1,” Mr Lund said.
The Danish Pavilion, in the Mobility District, has an 18-metre observation tower.
The pavilion structure is now complete and the full fit-out is expected to be finished by August.
It will host high-profile Danish companies including globally recognised mobility experts such as DSV and Maersk, alongside Rockwool and Ege.
Fatema Al Mazrouei, ambassador of the UAE in Denmark, said the announcement underlines the cooperation and bilateral international partnerships between the two countries.
"There’s no doubt it reflects the strong growth in mutual economic relations and the joint co-operation between the embassy and Danish Business community and progress in the bilateral relations," said Ms Al Mazrouei.
"Denmark's participation shows how countries can overcome the coronavirus pandemic by getting closer together and enhancing their cooperation to win over its challenges.”
