DUBAI // The Dar Al Ber Society has spent Dh1.25 million building a hospital and supporting families in Egypt as part of its projects in Arab, Islamic, African and Asian countries.
The Ber Charity Hospital in Mansura cost Dh1 million. It features an orthopaedics department, internal medicine, dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, urology and general surgery and outpatient clinics.
The charity has also helped families support themselves by providing 200 sewing machines, water coolers and tankers. It paid for the marriages of 13 couples and the school and university fees for poor children. Wheelchairs were provided for special-needs cases.
“The society also donated seasonal assistance, such as Iftar or fast-breaking meals, Eid clothes and Adahi, or sacrificial meat, let alone the sponsorship of 5,334 orphans, six special-needs people and 168 low-income families,” said Eng Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, the Dar Al Ber Society chairman. “Egypt has always stood by all Arab countries at very critical moments. The noble fraternal relationship between Egypt and UAE is deeply rooted and reflects the culture, traditions and appreciation of the two peoples.”
The Dar Al Ber Society also donated Dh57,357 to the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo that provides free treatment to patients.

Brunch has been around, is some form or another, for more than a century. The word was first mentioned in print in an 1895 edition of Hunter’s Weekly, after making the rounds among university students in Britain. What is the Supreme Petroleum Council?
The Abu Dhabi Supreme Petroleum Council was established in 1988 and is the highest governing body in Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas industry. The council formulates, oversees and executes the emirate’s petroleum-related policies. It also approves the allocation of capital spending across state-owned Adnoc’s upstream, downstream and midstream operations and functions as the company’s board of directors. The SPC’s mandate is also required for auctioning oil and gas concessions in Abu Dhabi and for awarding blocks to international oil companies. The council is chaired by Sheikh Khalifa, the President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi while Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is the vice chairman.
