Danger driver arrested after ramming into bus in Dubai

A reckless driver who rammed into a bus after performing a string of dangerous stunts in a residential area in Dubai has been arrested by police.

The motorist's actions were caught on camera by an unknown member of the public who shared the footage with police.

Salah Bu Farousha, head of Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution, said the 20-year-old's danger driving in Mirdif, Dubai, had put lives at risk.

The complaint was initially made to Al Rashidiya Police Station before being passed on to the prosecution department.

“The case file included a clip of the SUV showing it’s driver carrying out stunts, endangering lives, causing disturbance to residents as well as road users and ramming into a bus that was stopped in an internal road,” said Mr Farousha.

It was not disclosed who made the recording and sent it to police.

Mr Farousha said that the motorist was apprehended and detained for seven days pending investigations and completion of technical reports that will reveal any illegal modifications made to the vehicle.

He said that authorities are determined to crackdown on offenders putting lives at risk on the emirate's roads.
