Two light shows involving hundreds of drones are being held each night in Dubai.
The swarm of 300 drones will entertain crowds for 45 consecutive days to celebrate Dubai Shopping Festival.
The festival began on December 17 and runs until January 30.
Held at 7pm and 9.30pm, above The Beach, opposite JBR, Bluewaters and the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort, each performance lasts four minutes and is free to watch.
The first show, titled ‘Dubai, A City of Adventure’, highlights different things to do and see in the emirate with popular characters Modesh and Dana going on a journey to explore what the city has to offer.
The second show, titled 'Dubai, From the Past to the Present', charts the city's journey from old Dubai to new Dubai, with the official DSF song by Rashed Al Majed, Dubai Kawkab Aakhar, which translates to Dubai is another planet.
The festival, now in its 26th year, began with concerts by Arab pop stars Hussain Al Jassmi and Tamer Hosny.

A foster couple or family must:
- be Muslim, Emirati and be residing in the UAE
- not be younger than 25 years old
- not have been convicted of offences or crimes involving moral turpitude
- be free of infectious diseases or psychological and mental disorders

How to apply for a drone permit
- Individuals must register on UAE Drone app or website using their UAE Pass
- Add all their personal details, including name, nationality, passport number, Emiratis ID, email and phone number
- Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
- Submit their request
What are the regulations?
- Fly it within visual line of sight
- Never over populated areas
- Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
- Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app
- Only fly the drone during the day, and never at night
- Should have a live feed of the drone flight
- Drones must weigh 5 kg or less
