DUBAI // A maid who absconded from her sponsor and found work as a prostitute was today sentenced to six months in prison.
AF, 36, from Indonesia, came to the attention of police after falling from the window of her apartment in Al Nahda 2 on November 19 last year.
She was rushed to hospital for treatment, but could not provide any identification documents, and confessed to absconding from her sponsor five months after arriving in the country in October 2010.
She told officers she worked as a part time maid in several apartments before beginning to prostitute herself in November 2012. She said she would have sex with up to five men a day in return for payments of between Dh300-Dh400 per client.
At the Criminal Court she admitted a charge of prostitution.
She will be deported after completing her jail term.

Some 400,000 shrubs and 13,000 trees in the on-site nursery
