Two men assaulted an employee, robbed him and stripped him naked after he threatened to report them to police for failing to pay his wages, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The Indian man, 24, said his two compatriots had befriended him and found him a job purportedly paying Dh1,500 per month at a construction site in Dubai last May.
But after six months of work, he said he had only been given Dh150 by the two men.
"When I said I will call police if they didn’t pay it all, they became angry," the complainant told prosecutors.
He said the pair dragged him into a room at the labour accommodation in Al Rafaa and launched a brutal attack.
"They kicked and beat me up with their hands and legs before one of them picked up a metal bar and knocked me on the head," he said.
The incident took place on November 24.
The two men then allegedly stripped the man and took pictures of him.
“They threatened to post the pictures online if I reported them to police, then stole my mobile phone and passport,” the man said.
He reported the assault to police, who tracked down the assailants and arrested them two days later.
“They sexually assaulted him by undressing him themselves and taking pictures of him naked,” prosecutors told the court.
The defendants denied charges of physical assault, theft, issuing threats and sexual assault at a hearing on Sunday.
The case was adjourned until February 23, when a verdict is expected to be delivered.
