Man who kissed boy outside Abu Dhabi mosque cleared of sexual harassment

ABU DHABI // An expatriate who kissed a boy on the cheek outside a mosque has been cleared of sexual harassment.

The Federal Supreme Court ruled that the kiss, which took place inside the expatriate's car while the pair were waiting to pray, was not sexual or indecent.

The man argued that the boy was like a son to him, and that he merely gave him a fatherly kiss on the cheek. The boy agreed with the expatriate's testimony.

The Supreme Court overturned a verdict by the first instance court in Sharjah that had sentenced the expatriate to three months in jail to be followed by deportation.
