A 32-year-old man will spend 15 years in jail for killing his supervisor’s niece during a heated argument.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted the Filipino cleaner of killing his countrywoman, also 32, but he appealed the sentence and lost on Wednesday morning when the appeals court upheld the jail term.
On August 7 last year, he went to the victim’s home in Jebel Ali trying to speak to his supervisor about Dh6,000 that he owed to the hotel where they worked after he had resigned from his job. He was said to owe the amount as a penalty for resigning before the end of his employment contract.

The niece told him that the supervisor wasn't at home but he rushed into their kitchen and grabbed a knife.
They got into a fight as the niece tried to get him out of their home and he ended up slitting her throat in the kitchen.
A forensic report found that there were bruises on the victim’s face, chest and stomach.
After he committed the crime, the man called his brother and they met up.
The brother told police that he said: “Call the police. I have killed someone. Don’t blame me. I don’t know what I have done.”
The man will be deported after serving his jail term.
