ABU DHABI // A Pakistani man found using the passport of one of his relatives told the criminal court yesterday that he was unaware of what he was doing because he is illiterate.
AM said he was unaware the passport was not his and that he was not stopped at Abu Dhabi International Airport when he used it to travel to Pakistan, despite the name on his ticket being different from that on his passport. While he was away his relative and colleague NN noticed his passport was missing while that of AM remained. He then told his supervisor, who notified police.
NN denied being an accomplice to a crime, saying he would not have notified his supervisor had that been the case.
Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer, head of the criminal court, noted a resemblance between the two men as they had similar wavy hair, height and other features.
The case was adjourned to June 24.
