DUBAI // Four men are accused of stealing a 2012 Land Cruiser owned by the Iranian Embassy, the Dubai Criminal Court heard today.
AS, 34, and GA, 24, both Afghans, their accomplices SM, 50 from Pakistan, and EF, 41 from India, all failed to enter a plea.
AS, SM and EF are all charged with stealing the vehicle while GA was charged with aiding and abetting.
MH, 55, an Iranian businessman, testified that the car was intended to be shipped to the Iranian Embassy in Ghana via a company in Ras Al Khor.
"We were told by the shipping company that the car was not in the company's car park although we parked it there," MH said.
He added that he saw pieces of broken glass on the ground so he suspected it was stolen and reported the matter to police. Four days later police found the car.
A policeman testified that when arrested, EF confessed to stealing new cars with AS and SM. He said that they take the stolen cars to Sharjah to have them shipped to Afghanistan using forged documents.
The next hearing was scheduled for July 29 to assign lawyers for the defendants.
