DUBAI // A sales assistant at a Dubai Free shop was charged this morning with stealing electronics worth Dh37,212 from her employer.
When she appeared before the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance, the Filipina RH, 36, denied abusing her employer’s trust and taking eight Samsung phones, three Apple iPhones, three cameras, and two Nokia phones.
According to the testimony of AA, a sales supervisor, while looking over the November sales he discovered some items disappearing during RH’s shift. He informed his manager, who investigated with RH, but she denied taking anything.
Prosecutors said she stole the items on November 29, 2010, and listed them in the "sold items" ledger. SE, an Indian security officer at the Duty Free Zone, testified that he checked with the accounting department if they received any payments for the devices, but they said they had not.
The next hearing was scheduled for June 5.
