Customs seize 1.57kg of crystal methamphetamine

Dubai customs inspectors have foiled a bid to smuggle 1.57kg of the drug crystal methamphetamine into the UAE. The haul was brought in by a passenger coming to Dubai International Airport from an African country, the state news agency WAM reported. A customs inspector searched the baggage after becoming aware of suspicious lumps in the bag. Ali al Mugahwi, director of airport operations at Dubai Customs, said that the passenger denied knowing about the illegal contents of the baggage. The passenger was transferred to the General Department of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police.
