Businessman cleared of forging exit and entry stamps

DUBAI // A 43-year-old businessman was acquitted of forging Dubai airport entry and exit stamps this morning at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

AS, from Azerbaijan, was also charged with forging two passports by changing the picture on one and the expiry date on the other. He was referred to the Court of Misdemeanours on these charges and awaits a verdict.

AS was so thrilled at being acquitted that he asked the translator twice about the verdict.

Police officers had told prosecutors that the defendant confessed during investigations.
