The body of a man reported missing while swimming in Umm Al Quwain was recovered on Wednesday morning.
The man – whose age and nationality were not revealed – and his friend were swept away by a strong tide at Al Bayt Al Mitwahid Corniche on Sunday.
His friend was rescued soon after and taken to Umm Al Quwain Hospital for treatment.
A major search operation, involving police and Civil Defence teams and volunteers, was launched to find the missing swimmer.
Maj Gen Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Mualla, Commander in Chief of UAQ Police, said the search continued for three days.
"The man's body was found at Al Naqaa area and recovered at 11.13am this Wednesday," he said.
The deceased was identified by members of his family.
The force urged all members of the public to avoid swimming in the sea during bad weather.
