Childhood Carnival this weekend will be fun but with a serious message

DUBAI // A carnival that aims to educate children about protecting themselves will take place on Saturday.

Organised by the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, the annual Childhood Carnival will take place at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children.

Afra Al Basti, the director general of the foundation, said: “The carnival teaches children about prevention in an interesting and attractive framework.”

She also said that the event had taught hundreds of children in previous years.

“The foundation was keen to organise the Childhood Carnival this year with a new approach in line with its annual awareness campaign about child abuse, ‘Protect Childhood, it’s Precious’, which was launched this year through the social media platforms in cooperation with a number of influencers to ensure that the messages will reach as many as people as possible,” the director added.

The carnival will run from 10am to 7pm and a wide range of activities such as painting, pottery, theatrical and musical performances and awareness workshops will feature.

Ms Al Basti called on parents to bring their children and get them involved in the event in Umm Suqeim 3, just off Umm Suqeim Road.
