DUBAI // An Indian carpenter denied making threats to kill a maid if she told her sponsor he had been visiting the villa to have sex with his other maid.
E A told prosecutors the defendant was a member of a construction team working on building another room for her employer and she had seen him at the villa several times after working hours.
“I thought he used to come for work-related matters but, on the day of the incident, I heard the bell ringing and as I looked from the window, I saw the other maid [E S] take him to her room,” said E A.
She said she visited the room and saw the two of them getting intimate so she shouted at them.
“She told me not to tell anyone about them and said that they are in love and had been having sex several times. It was then when the carpenter threatened to kill me if I told my boss about them,” the maid said.
E A was fearful of telling her sponsor but his neighbours told him anyway that the carpenter had been coming to his villa when no one was there. They also gave the sponsor the man’s car plate number.
The sponsor, A A, whose nationality and age were not given in court documents, then waited outside his villa in his car until J S arrived and met with the maid.
He continued to wait until J S left then followed him to a nearby construction site, where A A confronted him.
Prosecutors said J S tried to escape but A A had called police and he was arrested.
A A asked his wife to question the maids and she told him E S confessed to his wife she had been having sex with J S after he promised to marry her.
In court on Thursday, the carpenter denied a charge of issuing threats and was denied bail.
Both J S and E S were referred to the Court of Misdemeanours to face a charge of having consensual sex outside wedlock.
The next hearing will be on April 18.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.

A semen analysis of the father showed abnormal sperm so the couple required IVF.
Out of 21 eggs collected, six were unused leaving 15 suitable for IVF.
A specific procedure was used, called intracytoplasmic sperm injection where a single sperm cell is inserted into the egg.
On day three of the process, 14 embryos were biopsied for gender selection.
The next day, a pre-implantation genetic report revealed four normal male embryos, three female and seven abnormal samples.
Day five of the treatment saw two male embryos transferred to the patient.
The woman recorded a positive pregnancy test two weeks later.
