A street in Beiruit has been named after Sheikh Zayed and a memorial honouring the UAE Founding Father has been unveiled in a show of friendship between Lebanon and the UAE.
A main street and a roundabout will bear the name of the late UAE ruler in the Lebanese capital, with the announcement made at a reception to mark UAE National Day and the Year of Zayed.
The ceremony in the Lebanese capital was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Lebanon and a number of officials.
UAE President Sheikh Khalifa sent two cables to Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Al Hariri, thanking them for the gesture.
"This fraternal move by the municipality and province of Beirut, is an expression of amity between the brotherly peoples of the UAE and Lebanon," Sheikh Khalifa said.
