ABU DHABI // The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation has donated more than Dh2.5 million to charity groups that help the less-privileged, widows, orphans and the elderly.
The contribution, honouring the will of the late Emirati philanthropist Ahmed Baqlaf, is in line with the Year of Giving, according to Tayeb Al Rais, secretary general of the foundation.
Separate cheques of Dh350,000 each were presented to Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai, Beit Al Khair Society in Dubai, Sharjah Charity International, Sharjah Charity House, Human Appeal International in Ajman, Al Rahmah for Charity in Ras Al Khaimah, and Al Ihsan Charity Association in Ajman.
The foundation donated Dh75,553 to cover the cost of some kidney treatment at the International Modern Hospital.
