Al Ain has begun to implement 10 vital infrastructure projects, including roads, car parks and parks.
Al Aflaj roundabout in Al Ain city will be developed to increase its capacity and ease congestion.
A tunnel will also be built at Sultan bin Khalifa roundabout to allow for easier traffic flows.
The developments are in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 to provide housing and develop roads, infrastructure and facilities for the city.
The 10 projects are part of Al Ain Municipality's ambitious 2013 to 2017 five-year strategic plan.
Also included are infrastructure works for commercial plots in the Al Jimi area.
These will include roads, drainage networks, multi-storey car parks, traffic signals, street lights, traffic signal intersections, landscaping and parks.
Development of infrastructure is expected to boost the economy in the area.
The work also includes improving traffic flow around the new Al Ain Stadium and a network of internal roads in various residential areas serving 1,305 blocks.
Additional work on private villa driveways will be carried out to ensure traffic safety.
