AJMAN // Inspectors from Ajman municipality have seized a large quantity of rotten meat that was being sold from a car in Masfoot and Hatta.
Officials confiscated the vehicle, which was loaded with meat as well as skins from cows and sheep.
The meat was destroyed and legal action will be taken against the driver.
Humaid Al Muallah, the director of public health and environment department at Ajman municipality, said the driver thought no inspections would be carried out in remote areas such as Masfoot and Hatta.
Mr Al Muallah added the municipality is meeting with butchers to educate them about the importance of hygiene and the proper ways to slaughter an animal with Eid Al Adha approaching.
Butchers are also briefed on the proper way to dispose of waste as part of efforts to protect the public health.
