Ahmed Mansoor is not on hunger strike, is in good health and is regularly examined by medical professionals, the UAE said in a statement to the United Nations.
Mr Mansoor, who is currently in custody for inciting hatred and defaming the UAE online, is served regular meals and is allowed visits from his family, the last one of which was in April 2019, state news agency Wam reported.
The statement, which was issued by the UAE's permanent mission to the UN in Geneva, came in response to special procedures discussed by the Human Rights Council on May 7, 2019. It said that the UAE had reviewed the claims, but had already refuted all allegations relating to the case – they are unfounded and have been "spread by NGOs to distort and falsify the facts".
Claims that Mr Mansoor is on hunger strike are not true and his last medical check up was also in April 2019. He is in "good health", it said.
The statement also affirmed the country's respect for the principles of human rights guaranteed by the UAE constitution and legislation.
