DUBAI // Singer Christina Aguilera has been signed to help publicise the Trump International Hotel and Tower, one of Dubai's largest developments.
The singer will perform on Saturday at a launch party on Donald Trump's Los Angeles estate.
The Dh2.9 billion (US$789.5m) development features two towers that rise above the Palm's monorail and central park.
It houses a mix of 378 hotel rooms and suites, 385 flats, 12 exclusive townhouses, 45,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of office space.
Aguilera, 26, is the latest celebrity to be enlisted to help to promote Dubai's developments.
Earlier this month, the singer Enrique Iglesias entertained home buyers at the launch party for Dream Harbour - a Dh1.7bn tower being developed by Desert Dream Real Estate and Investments at Dubai Waterfront.
Pearl Dubai flew 150 investors in its Baccarat Hotel and Residences project to Paris last month for a private concert by Sir Elton John.
Next month, the Australian singer and actress Kylie Minogue is due to launch Nakheel's Atlantis, the flagship resort on the Palm Jumeirah.
The hotel project is Mr Trump's first business venture in the UAE.
The building will offer panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and a range of exclusive leisure facilities, including a private beach and a yacht club.
Trump International Hotel and Tower Dubai is the first joint venture between Nakheel and The Trump Organisation. Construction began earlier this year and is due for completion in May 2011.
Price records were broken within hours of the properties going on sale when a buyer offered $3,000 per square foot, or close to $30m, for one of the development's penthouses, more than twice the going rate of the city's most expensive properties.
Other properties in the development have sold for an average of $2,450 per square foot.
