Abu Dhabi's online alcohol licence site hit by delay

The official website set up to apply for an alcohol licence in Abu Dhabi emirate is not operational as planned. Officials said last week that the new electronic system would go into effect on July 1.

An official at the newly created Special Licence Office in Abu Dhabi advised, "Just keep trying to log in as IT technicians are already working to activate it.

"They just launched it today so we expect that by the evening or tomorrow, it will be operational."

The address, which can be used to download applications and submit necessary documents, is www.auhsl.ae.

The previous offices, operated by police, to issue the licences was closed at the end of last week. Residents can only apply online.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
