ABU DHABI // The orange-coloured sand dunes of the emirate’s deserts appear to be the first image ever released of the new Star Wars movie.
On Friday, a short trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to seventh episode in the series, premiered on Apple’s iTunes Trailers service.
The clip opens with a shot of the desert landscape, before what appears to be a Storm Trooper interrupts the quiet.
The trailer also features a glimpse of a dogfight above the desert between the Millennium Falcon and Tie-Fighters.
Parts of the film were shot in Abu Dhabi, with the Western Region desert standing in for the planet of Tatooine.
Fans of the series have some time to wait until they can see the full-length movie, as the trailer ends with a reminder that it will not be released until December 2015.
